Experience an evening of virtuosic Indian music as Soumik Datta highlights the versatility of the sarod. British Indian composer Soumik Datta has made it his mission to bring the sarod – a 19 stringed fretless instrument which evolved from its roots from Afghanistan into the world of contemporary music. Having described himself as a ‘slave to the instrument’, his innovative solos and boundary pushing output has led to collaborations with artists as diverse as Anoushka Shankar and Beyoncé. He is accompanied by the master of tabla, Sukvinder Singh.
